Brands have started investing heavily in marketing and advertisement. They are reaching and influencing a maximum number of people possible by advertisement, endorsement or PR box. Be it Fashion and Lifestyle sectors embracing social media marketing is just a thing.
You know why these brands are spending generously, because of US. We millennial are so blind that we trust and follow others. If my favourite blogger or star is using so and so product so will I. Things don’t work that ways you have to analyze before you spend your money. We believe what someone says or implies their view on some product that will be true or correct as they are connoisseur for us or the face for that brand. These bloggers or beauty gurus are paid for it they get tons of product from the company for review, do you think they use those products? No, they don’t, all they do is just apply it for once and boom done won’t even touch it the next time. I am not sure if you have noticed it but they will just speak about the claims that are already mentioned in the box or advertisement. They won’t actually use it for a week to give you a genuine review.
We need to understand how can we curate our own skincare routine. I’ll tell you how. Here are 5 things you need to consider before buying and splurging your savings on any skincare product.
What is your Skin Type?
This is the very first step and an important one too! We need to understand what is your skin type whether it is oily or dry, sensitive or combination or just normal. There are numerous products in the market that are targetted to specific skin type. If you have oily skin you should avoid using oil-based formulations rather try for a gel-based or aqua-based product. If you have acne then go for noncomedogenic formulations. These small steps will give you a 100% better result than dumping anything and everything on your beautiful face.
What are you looking for?
Now, we decide on what problem areas are we trying to restore is it hyper-pigmentation, acne, dark spots, dark circles, uneven skin tone. What does my skin really need? Is it too oily? Is it too dry? Do I have acne? Are they just pimple or are they cyst? Learn to find the root cause search for your answers asks the experts, dermatologist in this case. Create a funnel so that you can address your problem and get a satisfactory result.
What should I buy?
This is where you put all the results that you get from the initial two questions in use. Now you create an assortment search for the product that addresses your problem. List them down that you think fits in your budget and requirement. Next is you find more about that product. I mean by learning more about that product is not based on reviews or company claims it would be based on the ingredients that a particular product contain. Here’s a secret trick the initial 5 ingredients from the list comprises 75-80% of the entire product. So, if these ingredients have huge long names and belong to a particular group of chemicals which is harmful in the long run just avoid that product. For instance, if it is an aqua-based product water/aqua should be in the list of first 5 ingredients followed by a co-polymer and gel.

It's your call how you want to go for it and at what time of the day you want to do it. Most preferred time for skincare is before bed as the skin heals and recovers while you unwind and are relaxed. Also, note that there are formulation for night care which can be expensive so try to find a product that can be used in the day as well as night.
What more can you do?
These are superficial remedy it is also very important to look at what we dump inside. Diet should be improved, stress and alcohol consumption should be limited. Exercise at least thrice a week or go for a walk or run, spend quality time with not just your family and friends but also yourself. Self-love is the key.
